The FBC Library has both BOOK and NON-BOOK materials (such as VCDs and messages on cassette or CD). Please use the following guide to search for the materials you seek. Once you have found the material, please write down the title or Library of Congress Call number and come to the Library. We will gladly show you where the material is located in the Library. Please note, however, that the material might be out on loan.
How to search for a BOOK:
You may search
for a book under its AUTHOR, SUBJECT, TITLE or LIBRARY OF CONGRESS CALL NUMBER.
Take note of...
(i) the location
of the book, whether found in Pantai Centre or Subang Centre and
(ii) the call number which determines the shelf location in the Library.
The Call Number of the book is represented by alphabets and a string of numbers, (e.g. BF2405 Mar) which give us an idea of the subject matter. It is based on Library Of Congress classification of subject matter.
Books deemed to be suitable for Youth and Children have been given the prefix PZ.Y and PZ.C respectively, followed by the first three letters of the author's surname. These are mainly fiction books and have been shelved separately in the Pantai library.
How to search for NON-BOOK materials:
You may search under AUTHOR [which includes name of preacher, speaker, singer(s), etc.], SUBJECT or TITLE [sermon title, CD title, VHS title, etc.]. The Call Number of these materials are represented by these alphabets:
CA NT or CA OT [audio cassettes on New and Old Testament respectively],
CD [audio and video compact discs], or
VS [video cassettes],
followed by numerals. E.g. CA NT01, CA OT02, etc for audio cassettes; CD01, CD02, etc for audio compact discs; VS01, VS02, etc for video cassettes and so on. The Non-Book materials at Pantai are found in the Reference Section of the Library.
Once you have found
the material you are looking for in the catalogue, you may locate it on the
shelves by referring to the guide found on the edge of each shelf.
